Vaccines don't cause autism. Stupid parents who coddle their kids too much and blame everyone and everything but themselves (or, you know, genetics) for terrible things happening cause it.

How about those with bad immune systems?
Or those who are very susceptible to the complications that could come of it?
"Case by case basis"
Alas, for certain diseases, such as Hepatitis B, immunity gained through vaccinations can disappear if one is not exposed to corresponding disease for a long period. In these cases, it is preferable to get repeat vaccinations periodically.

And in case of Influenza virus, people need to get vaccinated annually because different virus strains circulate ever year, and in some cases, even mutate into new strain. Unfortunately, this means that we have to predict which strain would be circulating in a particular year, and if the prediction does not match the circulating strain, the vaccination can be less effective(though not effectless) in that season.
As I said,
CASE BY CASE BASIS

As for the flu, no, people don't NEED to be vaccinated yearly. You come into contact with enough germs over the year. Flu shots (especially shit like "bird flu" and "swine flu" scares) are massively over-hyped.

I just got my flu shot and my arm hurts bad. T_T
I... never get extra care. :I

Aww. *Pat Pat's head*

Here have some Tylenol and a fentenyl lollypop for the side effects of your flu shot.

Feel better? Good.

Now who wants to punch Teal in her flu shot?

Autism from too much cuddling?
That's the most uneducated post I've learned existence of in a long time.

Vaccinations are the way parents control their children to accept everything the way it is and to be submissive to their parents.

It's pretty sad when "autism" is used by idiots as a pretend high-brow word for "retarded".

Except when you look at how a good portion of people who are actually on the spectrum happen to have a considerably higher IQ, that's when it gets funny.

Retarded is a medical term, I fail to see the offense in using it as slang.
It's just the word "ass" all over again. It's Spanish, why allude it to be inappropriate?
Meh.

Retarded was a medical term until it was used as a derogatory term and more specific diagnostic terms were used anyway (i.e. down's syndrome).

Autism doesn't have a more specific term other than Autistic Spectrum Disorder. "Retarded" is an umbrella term. "Autism" is absolutely not.

We have fucking idiots like Savarin using Autism as a slur. More and more people are jumping on the bandwagon and are essentially promoting a HUGE misconception about what ASD can entail. And it has a huge amount of potential to make social lives difficult for those with ASD - as if it wasn't difficult enough al-fucking-ready. These idiots have absolutely no clue about how the spectrum works and can affect different people and manifest itself in very very different ways because they're apparently incapable of doing five minutes of googling - they don't even NOTICE when someone actually DOES have ASD.

Instead they're content to go "lol autism" on something completely and entirely irrelevant to autism (I've seen him do it before) instead of educating themselves like the mentally superior people they assume themselves to be.

If that were the case then I must be the biggest rebel ever.

It's sad when people just jump onto topics they know nothing about to look "cool" when they really look like idiot wanna-bes that shadow bitches.

Lack of intelligence is overwhelming in such fields.

Considering Aspurgers syndrome is now considered autism, I'm on that spectrum too, not to much wrong with me.

No offense intended to anyone's particular situation.

But there are many parents taking their kids to doctors really for them just being kids now. Some parents bring their children to the emergency room to be committed because they drew on the wall or banged on a door with a hammer when their sibling locked them out. Parents press physicians for a quick solution and an answer.

Physicians have to provided a billable, codable, diagnosis if they want to get paid and they are under pressure to give the parents something so they feel satisfied with the physicians services.

I believe this has resulted in a lot of children carrying diagnoses they truly don't deserve and in some cases being medicated instead of properly parented.

Parents think the doc's a f@cking quack when he listens to the child/ parents then tells them their kids normal, welcome to parent hood. They want a second opinion. You can give a DSM diagnosis on anyone if want to. I just think we are doing parents and kids a disservice by over diagnosing a lot of normal kids with frustrated parents.

I really don't know what's up with the "vaccines cause autism" crowd, since the vast majority of their evidence comes from a study which was discovered to be bogus years ago by the scientific community.

We have people dumb enough to think that a $5 footlong works on six inch subs at Subway... you're surprised people still take that kook seriously?

Funny thing about flu vaccines is that they have a tendency to not actually work. They're mainly for old people and babies though.

That's because Flu vaccines tend to be based off of complete conjecture. Influenza mutates every year, they have to pretty much GUESS how it's going to mutate the following year. Or maybe you caught the previous strain that's just dying out and your flu shot didn't cover that.

Vaccinations are the way parents control their children to accept everything the way it is and to be submissive to their parents.

Yeah, because those teenagers who rebelled were totally not vaccinate-oh wait, you mean they were? Huh... guess it must not work for everyone.

Now anyways, I actually have not been vaccinated for one form of meningitis. Before you say "OMFG DON'T YOU WANT TO LIVE YOU IDIOT", well consider this: Sometimes people may not get vaccinated for something because they have health reasons. I'm allergic to that particular shot of meningitis - in order to make the vaccine they have to use something I'm allergic to. :V

Smelge

Hey, Assbutt
Some times it can be bullshit though. Like, vaccination against influenza is pretty much pointless in my opinion. The virus changes all the damn time, making a vaccine almost pointless because you have to get a vaccine way too often.

Almost.

The flu virus has a hard outer shell, and there's around 100 different types of shell. That means that the body can immunise itself against the flu, but only of each kind, not generally. So every time you have the flu, it's the first and last time you'll get that particular strain. I don't know how that works with vaccines, but I'd imagine it uses some of the more common strains.

I'm allergic to that particular shot of meningitis - in order to make the vaccine they have to use something I'm allergic to. :V
