Weird hobbies

Not counting this one. You know. Being a furry. Or yiff. If we allowed those we’d all be posting that. ;)

What kind of hobbies do you have your friends, family, or even the fandom seems to think is weird.

One of my main ones is I’m a pretty avid aquarist. I used to have five fish tanks but I dulled down once I moved. Nobody understands my intense need to have my 65gal oscar tank or how much work I put into that thing. They usually don’t even consider them viable pets or a hobby, just a waste. Or “they’re just fish calm down” every time I panic over a power outage. (I really want a battery backup surge supressor...)

I even used to have a fully aquaponic filtered aquarium once. Now that was cool.

Often times soare money goes to slowly getting pieces for a saltwater tank. I have a whole box of supplies right now.

So yeah. Apparently that’s weird for the people I usually hang around. My wife doesn’t get it but lets me have it.

God I love aquariums, I had plenty of those throughout my life, I was keeping fresh water shrimp, plenty of catfish species, characins etc. My father taught me a lot about fish, but he is more of a bass person himself.
I also kept reptiles, a bearded dragon and two madagascan day geckos. I dont have any pets right now, but I sure have big plans for the future. ;)

Fish nerd here too!!
I'm prepping a tank for a fighter fish as I don't have room for more yet, but what I'm the most excited about when I think of moving out is having one big community tank...
I hate going to friends and seeing fighter fishes in vases or shit like that (same for goldfishes in unfiltered empty tanks), and I more than often get the 'Chill they usually live in puddles'. Which results in me yelling my fish nerd rant :p

I thought you could not put fighter fish with other fighter fish since they would kill each other. I am correct right, or am I mistaken for another breed of fish?

They can be put with other small fish though! Or the females can be put together like a sorority.

I love love fountain pens, personally. I’ve dropped a stupid amount on single pens and a little section of my wall is dedicated to cards I’ve made of ink samples

I often watch youtube videos and take the cotton off Q-tips because why not...
Something less sad would be going to concerts and forgetting all my problems and just remembering a group of people that I love and look up to is standing right in front of me performing. Best. Feeling. Ever.

Not many people these days seem to enjoy sabre dueling and even less enjoy to recreate medieval battles. Last time my jaw dropped when i saw THOUSANDS on both Polish, Lithuanian and Teutonic knights recreating Battle of Grunwald in... well Grunwald. I remember when i was hit in head with something like glave or halberd (long dent on helmet showed it) I woke up 5 hours later puking my guts out

The best day out i have ever had as i woke up just for feast. That smell...

You can sometimes put them in tropical community tanks depending on temperment, and if you do 3+ (ideally 5) females in double water they need you can have them living peacefully. I had a sorority (group of females) in my community tank.

I just recommend you not putting red fish in, or with fin nippers like tetras.

Fountain pens are awesome! I just got a package from GouletPens Friday, with a Noodler's Conrad flex demonstrator that I'm super excited to try out once I get back home.

I've set myself a limit of "one pen per year of age" but seeing as I only got into the hobby this year, that's still another 28 pens' worth of catching up. ;)

I’ve heard those were good pens! I’d actually kill for a really nice vintage flex of some sort.

Our local art store carries like 20 different noodlers inks, and you know... I might impliment that same rule...

I don't smoke but do like the old mechanical petrol cigarette lighters, and enjoy restoring them back into working order.

Insanity can be such a beautiful thing.
I've been the proverbial black sheep in my family since I was a toddler, so I don't think I can count them. So here's a list of other things I've gotten flak for.
I write fanfiction. I've gotten some good reviews, so I guess somebody out there likes it.
I collect vintage Soviet era items. Russian history and political theories fascinates me to no end.
I also collect funeral antiques and vintage items. Casket/coffin plates, post mortem photos, death certificates, poison bottles, gravestone rubbings and illustrations. You name it. Death has never scared me.
I collect anything Titanic related.
I photograph cemeteries.
I collect vintage propaganda. American, post and pre war Europe, Asia, Central/South American and the United Kingdom.
I love oddball, cult and obscure movies, the more out there the better.
I love vintage bad sci-fi and horror movies. Hammer films and European horror from the 60's and 70's is awesome.
Obscure music. I have a very odd cd collection.
Lovecraftian horror. I collect rare editions, novelties, fan art, original pulp magazines, etc. If it has Cthulhu or another Old One, it will be mine.

Doing this for hours at an end, on an almost daily basis at one point.

That's not me in the clip btw, but it should give you an overall idea of what it's like.

It surprises people that I do horse riding.

Me too! Well I haven’t in awhile, but I took lessons for a couple of years, and I’ve been wanting to get back at it.

I go to cemeteries at night to hunt ghosts. I love the mysterious so it’s something I enjoy. Though most of the time I don’t see anyhing, however there was this one time my friends and I kept seeing these white lights appear, streak by, and vanish. It was dead winter so it wasn’t bugs or anything.

I got a bunch, people tell me im weird for doing them because of how much I spend on them.
My main hobby is racing rc cars, then I also do car restorations and a bit of coin collecting. Then for hobby sports I do on and off are downhill mountain biking and Paintball when im not concussed or have broken bones from doing them.
