What does "tagging" mean?

Absolutely what Ashwolves said - while I wouldn't say to outright count on it, it's not implausible to gain one or two watchers every time you post quality artwork. Networking, tagging your content well, and being reasonably approachable also helps.

In this sense, what does this "tagging" imply?

You can't just quote yourself! -Me
Use of relevant keywords for ease of searching/filtering submissions on the main site. Most people add a few tags to each post they upload on the main site others. There are, however, people who don't tag or categorize at all (even popular artists) and they are infuriating.

Yeah; I post more art to Tumblr than to FA so I'm a derp and forgot FA calls them keywords. Whichever you call them, it's like Jarren said, the more (relevant) terms you enter, the easier it'll be for other people to find your content in a search. So this recent submission of mine is... honestly not very well tagged. www.furaffinity.net: Fire friend by quoting_mungo

www.furaffinity.net: Want to play with my blocks? by quoting_mungo is a bit better. Honestly, I'm just kinda garbage at tagging, tho.
