What would you do if you won a 50 million dollar lottery?

I don't think people realize how little a million is these days. Effective retirements funds to retire by age 60 are like 2 million... you could not live 60 years on $1M, unless you were good at investing.

I'd invest 10 million into an Swiss or Irish bank in order to just live off the interest from that. I'd buy a small chunk of land and hire a New York tax lawyer to help it so I don't have to pay a fucking thing.

I'd then focus on efforts of the soul. Id help out my friends of course by paying off their meager debts.

Actually I'd live the life I dream of which involves stability. So I'd probably end up buying a small coastal port side town and living in the light house. And when I die there'd be a deadman switch to detonate the 2 nuclear bombs I'd purchase on the black market and will have buried in the center of he town.

Add to the fact that every lottery comes with a hefty tax, meaning the more money you win, the more is taken away for taxes. Instead of keeping every penny you won, your lucky to end up with 60% of this prize. Still, that's looking at around 30 to 35 million dollars, which is a lot of money for the average citizen.

Just don't go gambling with it.

In the U.K. you don’t pay tax on winnings. Tax is instead paid when you buy the ticket.

It's a sadder story here in the U.S. We even have death taxes. One someone dies, their possessions they left behind are taxed as well.

It is called estate tax and it is only if their possessions are worth over 5.5 million dollars.

Edit: The threshold is 10 million now as of this year

Indeed. The rich can afford to pay these taxes; I would still be quite content with around $30 million after paying taxes on such lottery winnings. I don’t see any rich people vituperating against taxes lining up to trade places with blue collar workers who would be thrilled with simply having $250K+ to buy a modest house or condo with cash!

I might put a little on the side for myself and family but for the most part I'd use the money to fund further research.....for science!

Invest a bit in an account to collect the interest first off. Then buy a house in the country and a good off-roading vehicle. Then probably buy a setup so I can clone fungi more easily.

Aw, man, well first-off: I'd definitely start with student loans. Take care of paying those back. Then buy a decent house with decent supplies, put a good bit away for my family. Donate to friends, artists, and gofundme's for people who are in tough times. Maybe help fund my hometown some, or at least, give the schools the boost they need. The rest would go in the bank.

Oh I've already got my plan in mind. Open up my own bar&grill, buy a modest home, give some to my family, and the rest goes straight to charities. I reckon with 50 million, I really only need like 2-3 million myself.

Or, alternatively, Heaven or Hell mode: buy 50 million lottery tickets.

I would organize the telecast of fluffy adventures on the world. Would employ the good team of operators. And itself would be in a leading role. There would be many fluffy suits. There would be an extreme. Something it seems Heads and tails. Only with fur.

2mil each for my mom, dad, and brother. 3 mil invested to keep my money making money, and the last mil on a car, small house (less than 350,000) a fursuit, and a nice vacation before I go back to work.

Easy-
1) Pay off the few debts I still owe (less than $3,000.00 now. I been chipping-away at 'em!).
2) Pay for the meds I should be on, but can't afford now, to make my last days easier to endure.
3) Pay, no, that's not the right word... 'Show my appreciation', for the extremely kind people who have given me a place to live for the past few years, w/o any harassment/guilt-trips/troubles, while I've been providing some 24/7 armed security to their own property/homes (they took-over buying the small ranch I've called home for the previous 10 years)...

I don't need much $$$ anymore, and I'm perfectly fine with that.
I have never wanted a mansion, fancy cars, jewelry, 'Lifestyles of the rich and snobby'...
A peaceful place to live with my remaining critters, food in the cupboards, utilities 'ON', medical needs met...

I don't think I'm asking for too much?

Ah, well...

1. Pay off my student loans.
2. Get out of my horrible apartment building.. (which I can't stand - but can't afford to move out of).
3. Go to Tahiti for a month, (and live in a hut by the sea).
4. Pay my Mom's house off.

And the rest - I'll figure out later.

I would buy myself a whole house for a million and live like how I want to. Like a shut-in.

I would commission a lot of artists.
I wouldn't give money for free to anyone, but if it's to a worthy cause I would definitely consider it.
I would give 10 mill to testicular cancer research.
I would spend 20 million in investing in housing, providing cheap housing for people.

Uh. That's all I have currently. :V

I'd live the life of course.. All the things that make my family and I happy. In particular I'd like to establish a National German Shepherd sanctuary in the U.S.

Buy a reasonably nice house, and fill it with expensive stuff like weapons, armor, and musical instruments.
