Wiccan Furs

Effervescent Gallows
I dabble in all things occult, although it's more chaotic than in any specific category ^^

It's nice to find a furry that is a wiccan as well. So magical...

Question to all: So what would be your one magic ritual that you do mainly? And what purpose does it serve?.

Until I recently moved, every few days I used to take a 30 minute hike through the woods, around a lake, and up a small mountain. From there I could see all of New York City and watch the sun set while listening to the indigo buntings sing. I'd toast the patron deities with a cup of mead before making my way back down the trail, lit by a million fireflies. I don't know if there was a specific purpose, but it definitely felt like I was called to do it and I'm glad I did.

I wouldn't say I'm quite a pagan in the formal sense, but I do have a lot of odd superstitions, and I'm not sure how they evolved, exactly, though over the years, they have certainly become more and more entrenched.

For instance:

It's bad luck, to see a baby bird, that has fallen from the nest, and died.

It's bad luck when you see a single, silent crow, and worse when it caws at you.

Seeing a pair of crows means it's time to consider something in life, perhaps make some changes.

Seeing a flock of crows making a lot of noise, and especially in motion, means that some or other significant change is on the horizon. (especially living in a city/urban area)

~

I suppose these are mostly more passive things, rather than ritual, though, they do involve the aspect of contemplation. And I'm not quite sure, how they came to me, over the years, or if any other people/groups share them...

Common enough that there's even a word for it: ornithomancy, or reading bird sign.

Ah, curious. I seem to attract doves; nesting under my window, and on a little back-patio garden I had once, in a potted hydrangea bush. I always see them as an omen of fertility (perhaps not literally, but as in giving birth to something creative), and calm...also, of all birds, they certainly make some of the most beautiful sounds.

Doves are related to pigeons and are excellent navigators. They often represent peace, love, and messaging in mythology and were often portrayed accompanying various deities in ancient artwork.

(I actually wear a pendant of a crow holding a pentacle)
