Wings on non-winged species?

I think that it's very cool-looking seeing a winged fursona with bat-like wings, with the paws forming at the end.

I'm not one to get pussy hurt and cry over wings on a character that "shouldn't" have wings. I may be a furry, but I'm not picky like the rest of this fandom. Wings can be fun and add some flow to the composition as well as a sense of grace to the character. And they aren't always these huge majestic wings. I've seen sona's with adorable tiny wings, mecha wings (always cool), floating wings, holo wings. List goes on. I say if you want to try go for it.

I think I'm just going to abandon this thread.
Do character want your what with.

I tried to do that with Vae, but then I realized that she wouldn't be able to wear like any normal shirts.

I like wings on non-winged species, personally. Of course it doesn't make sense but neither does an animal-person standing upright, with fully formed tails, with digitgrade legs, talking in normal human speech with a different mouth, teeth and throat, often with unnatural coat colors or patterns. Suspension of disbelief is required to enjoy most of people's art or fursonas anyway, so in my perspective wings are just another part of that.

My only beef besides the usual sparkley Mary Sue types are wings depicted as fully functional even if they're "chibi" or otherwise very small or have little feathers/wingsail. Yes, the furry with larger wings would not have the breastbone to support themselves in the air either, but at least it looks believable damnit.

IMO it would depend on the species, the reason behind having the wings, and how they look/used.

I generally like them, but like others have said if they are added for a reason like "oh that would make me look cool" I thinks it's pretty dumb. At one point I considered my 'sona having wings, but she is Snow Leopard/ Cape Fox cross, it wouldn't make sence for her to have any wings, so I left them out.

Long story short, wings should not be added for the sake of having wings. Unless there's a reason for said anthro to have wings. However who am I to judge anyone here?

It feels like a tiny, icy dagger pierces my heart whenever I see the sanctity of birds being ruined by putting wings on a filthy mammal.

but yeah it's your character i guess

I want to be a furry.

Wolves are cool, I want to be a wolf. Everybody chooses wolves? What if I make him a wolf-fox hybrid. Yeahh. Everybody makes wolf-fox hybrids? ... Slap some wings on that bitch.

Mine doesn't even fly and she has wings. It's a fursona. In fact, it's my fursona. It doesn't have to be original, to other people's standards, or make any sense.
Most fursonas don't make any sense, and that's fine. If that was a requirement things would get pretty boring.

Maybe the character belongs to a species that has evolved feather-like structures independently from birds?

Wings are passe. Jet packs are where it's at.

You don't need a reason for your own personal projects. Creating your own characters isn't some design firm where each choice needs to psychologically affect a client. :I
Because really...what other reason would an anthro have wings besides the artist saying "I want wings"? Not every character is going in some grandiose story.

Im a bat wolfy, so wings make sense. I used to wear wings with my fursuit but they are a huge hassle to deal with in large crowds and small places, like an elevator. They've served their purpose, I might get some new wings commissioned soon, I dunno.

Anyway wings are cool so yeah. Its all fictional so who cares if a cat has bat wings.
